operation: fit in my pants

Once upon a time, there was a girl. A girl who was a bit chunky. So she joined Weight Watchers and over the course of 3 months lost 15 pounds. But, just as she was basking in the success of newfound weightloss she found out she was PREGNANT! Nine months and 45 pounds later...a beautiful baby girl, E, was born.

The girl thought it would be easy to lose those pregnancy pounds. After all, she was not galivanting to weddings and bars and diners, as she had when she initially lost the weight. However, she was wrong. There were the sleepless nights...then the quickly thrown together meals (or lunches out with other new moms)...then the eating off the plate of E. Between playgroups and work and other commitments, there was no time to work out. While the girl lost enough weight to get to her pre-WW pre-pregnancy weight...and she lost no more than that. And then...you guessed it...PREGNANT again!

This time, the girl got *even bigger*.

So after, Sweet Baby A was born, she tried yet again to lose the weight. She competed in (and won) a Biggest Loser contest with her family. She tried to fit in exercise. Things were going fairly well, when last July, she went back to work. Her schedule was crazy and there was no time for exercise. And the Fall brought on football games and fun weekend trips...and then it was Thanksgiving and then Christmas. By then the wardrobe of cute back-to-work pants that the girl had bought were no longer fitting. Sure, she could button them...but sitting in them would be impossible.

The girl knew she had to do something, so she started getting up early (5:30 am early!) to work out, and counting points on her own. And it worked for a while...she has lost a total of 9 pounds since January 1. But, once again, life got in the way. There was a trip to Vegas, and then a series of illnesses which has resulted in a sleeping strike of Sweet Baby A. Every week, the girl tells herself that she will get back on track but soon thereafter, she falls off the wagon.

After really thinking about why Weight Watchers worked so well for her the first time, she realized that it was the *accountability* of attending the weekly meetings that was key. Since she had to go weekly (she still had to pay even if she skipped), standing on the scale having someone whisper your weight to you was motivation to keep on track...or get back on track after minor setbacks.

So, this blog is my new accountability. I'll post my weight loss weekly, as well as whatever I feel like regarding my weight loss. Feel free to check in and let me know that someone is watching me. And, if you want...come join me!

Hey K! I also started a "running" blog a few weeks ago to hold me accountable for running, check it out...http://runningformy3boys.blogspot.com/. I haven't told too many people about it though. Actually, no one! Good luck, you can do it. You are AWESOME!!!
