a little retail torture...i mean, therapy

So, after bitching and moaning mentioning to John that I literally have nothing to wear...he told me not to worry about picking up the girls and head to the mall after work. Normally, I would refuse saying that I didn't want to spend money and I'll fit in my pants soon...but desperate times call for desperate measures so off I went.

It was terrible.

My first stop was Ann Taylor Loft. (Actually, I walked through the land of designer jeans in Nordstrom first to fondle look at the designer jeans I will one day wear, but that doesn't count.) I had the nicest lady help me. She must have brought me 50 different things to try on...and none of them fit correctly. I tried every damn type of pant in several sizes, and the best I could find just fit me okay. I ended up buying a pair of capris and a skirt (full price), a couple of shirts (on sale) and two T-shirts...mainly because I wanted this woman who worked tirelessly in my favor to get some semblance of commission.

Then, I went to the Gap. Almost everything there fit terribly on me, but I did end up with this skirt. Not the most flattering thing ever, but I'm a sucker for a comfy skirt. They also have one in orange, which I'll try to score on sale. Since we are now the proud owners of UVA season tickets, it'll come in handy for the games. Everything else at the Gap was bust.

I finally headed to Old Navy. Apparently, the place had been bombed approximately 4 minutes prior to my arrival based on the status of the clothes in there. I'm not good at bargain hunting, so I picked up two camis (to wear under one of my new shirts which is sheer) and got the hell out of dodge.

So there you have it. Despite my willingness to follow the mantra of Clinton and Stacy to buy for the body I have now, I just wasn't as successful as I wanted to be. So, I'm uber-motivated to lose a few pounds in advance of Kiki coming the weekend after Memorial Day. She's always so much fun to shop with and hopefully things will fit me better.

Love the skirt - I'm sure KiKi would approve.
